Yakama Indian Artifacts
The Museum is proud to steward nearly 3,000 Native American artifacts
The Museum is proud to steward and display a variety of baskets, beadwork, parfleches, and horse gear made by Yakama, Klickitat, and Nez Perce Indians. With over 400 artifacts currently on display, the collection includes headdresses, hats, dresses, leggings, shirts, moccasins, arrowheads, arrows, fishing weights, and beaded bags. All of the North American cultural groups- Plateau, Northwest Coast, Great Basin, Southwest, California, Plains, Eastern Woodlands, Southeast, and Alaska are included.
The Plateau collection, which includes beadwork and baskets, is the core of the collection. The Museum has collaborated with elders and artists from the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation to research our collections and inspire young artists.
